My clients are awesome!

My clients are survivors who become thrivers.

Have you swallowed the tears, the anger, and tried to bury the shame, but it’s all grown too big? Does the anxiety feel overwhelming, taking over your body or do you have thoughts that never stop? My clients have survived some tough stuff, but the very skills that helped them survive are no longer serving them well. We work on using internal strengths and external supports to move them forward to the life they want. I have had clients experience a level of mental/emotional health they never thought was possible before (eliminating nightmares or panic attacks, overcoming phobias, noticing obsessions without being overly distressed by them or giving into a compulsion). My clients’ relationships have also been impacted in a  positive way (setting boundaries, asking for what they need, being able to be vulnerable and connect emotionally).

My clients are typically people of faith.

There’s something comforting about talking to someone who understands your belief in God and isn’t going to steer you away from that. You also need someone who is going to meet you where you are at and not force anything you aren’t wanting or ready for. There’s nothing inherently Christian about EMDR or ego state therapy, but I’ve seen God use these tools to provide healing for my clients. I’m happy to encorporate Christian faith principals or discussion into therapy if you’d like that, and perfectly fine with leaving it out if you’re not. I’ve worked with people from all different faith backgrounds and am happy to work with you even if we don’t share the same beliefs.

My clients are doing more than just talking.

Don’t get me wrong, saying things out loud and receiving validation can be very therapeutic, but it only gets you so far. PTSD and anxiety are stored in your body, so tuning into what’s happening in your body is crucial in getting to a deeper place of relief. With OCD, tuning into your body and learning to live with that discomfort is one key to getting out of your head. I take a somatic approach to therapy as an EMDR consultant (highest level of training in EMDR). By integrating ego state therapy, clients are able to process painful life experiences with EMDR at a more comfortable pace without becoming overwhelmed.

My clients don’t trust easily.

Does talking to someone you don’t know about your problems seem overwhelming? You’re in good company. It’s hard to trust when so many have hurt you. I understand that trust takes time as we build a relationship together. I work with clients who have difficulty connecting with others in their life, including other providers.

My clients are brave enough to take the first step.

Sometimes asking for help is the bravest thing you can do. My clients are brave enough to face their issues. Healing from past trauma or learning to manage anxiety differently is hard. Hard work is worth it. More importantly, you’re worth it.

Is this you? Are you ready?

“Carrie is a wonderful therapist. She and I worked together for about 3 months, and I always felt comfortable with her. She really helped me work through my issues with anxiety.”

“Thank you very much for your help in working with me through my fear of dogs. Our sessions and body awareness exercises have been great for calming myself down and processing my anxious feelings. I am in a much better state of mind.”
